Orthodontic preparation for prosthesis

Orthodontic preparation for a prosthesis is an orthodontic treatment usually associated with certain movement of teeth, and its purpose is to permit better conditions for the prosthesis.

This treatment usually lasts up to a year; during that time collaboration with prosthesis doctors takes place. Doctors request a certain result be achieved in accordance with the treatment plan.

During an orthodontic preparation for prosthesis, a correction of any deformations is typically done (i.e., because of loosing teeth earlier, position of one or more teeth changed, and because of that implantation and prosthesis are impossible). The orthodontists’ goal is to achieve specific movement of the teeth in order to facilitate proper conditions for the prosthesis.

For me, cases such as these are interesting because they allow me to gain a deeper insight into the prosthetist’s job and a better understanding of what exactly their needs are and how to meet those needs with minimum effort.
